July & August Ministry Update

In July and August we hosted short-term ministry teams from St. Joseph the Worker Church in Portland, OR; Phillipsburg Christian Church in Phillipsburg, MO; and Knott Avenue Christian Church in Anaheim, CA.

The team from St. Joseph the Worker Church was able to finish the storage shed another ministry team started in June. In addition to that outside project, the team also put up an interior wall dividing a larger room into two bedrooms and finished painting the interior of a house of an elderly friend of ours.

The team from Phillipsburg Christian Church was able to help us sort a truck-load of donations we received. We distributed the donated items to several families so they could have a yard sale - providing income for some struggling families and providing reasonably priced items for other families. They also painted the interior of another elderly lady’s house.

The team from Knott Avenue Christian Church came for a long weekend. They painted over the graffiti-filled basketball court in Moonbase. They also hosted a Family Fun Day at the newly painted basketball court.

We have been focusing our children’s ministry time at Moonbase. Our ministry teams help us host a Bible Club in Moonbase. It has really been a blessing to get to know that group of children. Many of the neighborhood kids came over to help with the painting. God is moving in Moonbase.

May & June Update

May and June were exciting months! We completed the home for Robert and Edwina. It was so much fun to walk them through their new home and point out all the features. When we walked into the bedroom Robert looked up, got tears in his eyes, and said, “I’ve never had a house with a ceiling fan before.” We were elated to point out the ceiling fan in the living room as well! Robert looked around their new home and said, “I feel like a millionaire!” We would like to say “Thank You!” to everyone who participated in providing them their home. For pictures of the handing over of the keys, check out 3:18  Ministries’ Facebook page at www.facebook.com/three18ministries.

In June we hosted a short-term ministry team from Red Bridge Church of Christ in Kansas City,  Missouri. This was the second trip for this church and the fourth trip for the lead pastor.  During the mornings they worked on building a shed for our dear friend Veronica who lost her husband in January. They also painted the interior of Rose’s house. We met Rose thirteen years ago when we first visited the Tribal Youth Home. Rose retired several years ago because of her health. She had asked several Tribal departments for assistance painting, but received no help. We were honored to be able to serve her in this way.

The team also hosted a Bible Club in Moonbase. They shared lessons from the life of Joseph. It was so encouraging to hear the children repeat the previous stories and correctly answer questions. They were engaged in the stories and actively participated. God is moving in a powerful way in the hearts of those children!

Tory's Thoughts on the Fourth of July

I have just been thinking about the 4th of July. I am so thankful for this country in which I was born and yet I had no say in that. I didn't choose this country or the color of my skin. I didn't ask to be born in this land of opportunity and influence. I guess I just got lucky, lucky to be born in a country people are literally dying trying to get into. As you celebrate America's freedom remember those words our parents told us and if you are a parent you have uttered, "With greater privilege comes greater responsibility." How are you using your opportunities and influence? God bless the USA.

March & April Ministry Update

In March and April we hosted short-term ministry teams from Vail Christian Church in Vail, Arizona; Sandusky Avenue Christian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma; and the Mills family from California. This was Sandusky Avenue’s fourth trip with 3:18 Ministries and Vail Christian Church’s second trip.

The team from Vail Christian Church was able to continue working on the house they started last year. They also added an addition on to the original house. It is going to be a great three bedroom home for Daphne and her three children. The plan is for Daphne’s house to be finished in the next month or so. The other part of their team was able to help out another family. The second home had severe roof damage which caused interior water damage. They replaced the shingles and did extensive repairs inside the home.

The team from Sandusky Avenue and the Mills family both helped on Robert and Edwina’s home. Their home is so close to be completed. Two days ago Tory delivered some furniture that had been donated. Check out 3:18 Ministries’ Facebook page for updated pictures. 3:18 Ministries' Facebook Page Robert and Edwina’s home should be completed by the end of May!

The staff of 3:18 Ministries decided this year to focus on just one neighborhood for our Bible Clubs and Family Fun Days. Vail Christian Church hosted a Family Fun Day during their time here. Sandusky Avenue and the Mills Family helped provide great days of Bible Club. The kids have been very responsive and relationships are being formed. Pray for these times!

House Warming Quilt

As Robert & Edwina's house is in the final stages of completion we would like to present the family with a gift from all of you who have either been supporting and praying for us or physically joined us in the labor. We are assembling a quilt to present to them at the completion of their home. We would love for you to participate in this memory for them to cherish for years. You can do this by donating quilt squares that will be assembled into a quilt for them. Feel free to be creative and choose whatever material or design you want. If you would like to enclose a personal note, card, verse, etc. we will include that as well.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support in showing Christ’s love to this special family. Squares need to be sent in by March 15, 2014.

2013 Christmas Project

We are excited to announce our 2013 Christmas project!  We will be doing our 2nd Annual Book Drive, as well as planning a Christmas Family Fun day for the San Carlos community, providing gifts for the children at the San Carlos Apache Youth Home, and blessing the young men and their families who work construction with us.

How can you help?  There are THREE ways!  First, you can send new books that are appropriate for children and teens.  We will be passing them out to families at our Family Fun Day.  Second, you can send Wal-Mart, Target or Kohl's gift cards to help purchase gifts for the children at the Youth Home and the families of our construction teammates.  The last way you can help is by sending money to help with the supplies we will need for the Family Fun Day.

We love being able to share with our Apache brothers and sisters that people from all over the United States send gifts to share the love of Jesus with them.  Your gifts make a difference!

Please have all donations to us by Friday, December 6th.  Gifts can be sent to: 3:18 Ministries  1210 E Crestwood Dr.  Globe, AZ  85501

Thank you in advance for blessing the Apache families God has put in our path!
